Lib Dem Controlled Hull City Council to Sell Springhead Golf Course, Willerby?

Dear Resident,

You may have heard that Liberal Democrat controlled Hull City Council has announced its intention to sell Springhead Golf Club.

Many of you have expressed concerns that this might lead to the loss of open green space and an unwanted housing development.

Although it is owned by Hull City Council, the majority of the golf club falls within the East Riding. Your local Conservatives in Willerby will vigorously oppose any development and will ensure we keep residents up to date with the facts of the matter. We strongly believe that the golf club should remain a leisure facility for the residents of Willerby and Kirk Ella.

At the moment, East Riding Council has not received any planning applications.

We thought we would take this opportunity to let you know that the long awaited pedestrian crossing for Thwaite Street has been given the go-ahead by East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

We both think that this is fantastic news for our village and are pleased that finally, a decision has been made. As villagers, we know how much of a difference the new crossing will make to local residents who walk to the village on a daily basis.

We would like to thank everyone who has been involved in this campaign which has ensured local action for Cottingham residents.

Cottingham Eyesores Action Group PETITION

Cottingham South residents will have seen from our latest ‘In Touch’ newsletter that we are concerned about the state of both Cottingham House and Cleminson Hall. Both of these properties are open to vandalism and are fast becoming a blot on ambience of our residential area. Some residents on Longmans Lane have already experienced graffiti, trespassing and general anti social behaviour. This is not acceptable.

As we said in our newsletter, we believe that residents deserve better. At present, both sites are owned by property developers. Developers have a duty to maintain unused buildings and gardens. Whilst we appreciate the economic climate is not vibrant for developing, it is no excuse for letting Cottingham House and Cleminson Hall fall into a state which disrupts the lives of residents.

As your local Conservatives, we are determined to push for action to get the developers to maintain these sites to make them safe and secure.

Taking this issue up on behalf of residents, Local Cottingham Conservative Campaigner Lena Slater has set up the Cottingham Eyesores Action Group petition to pressure the owners to act responsibly and to clean and secure the sites.

Winter Weather Update

With the harsh winter weather still with us, we thought we would
take this opportunity to make sure you are kept updated with
regards to local services during these conditions.

BIN COLLECTIONS
Residents that have not receive a collection of their Green Bin will
receive a double collection on their next scheduled collection
day. Properties that did not receive a collection of their blue bins
on 1st, 2nd and 3rd December will receive a collection on 8th,
9th and 10th December respectively. A revised blue bin text
message will be sent informing those residents on the scheme of
revised collections.
To subscribe to the free blue bin text service, text the word blue,
followed by the 2 digits shown at the top left hand side on their
refuse collection calendar to 07786 200401.
e.g. Blue11 with no spaces

CLEARING OF PUBLIC AREAS
Teams of East Riding employees are working hard to make sure
public areas are cleared of snow and treated with grit. This is
focussed on areas of high footfall such as village centres.

SALT BINS
Where salt bins are empty, East Riding Council is attempting to
refill them as quickly as possible. If there is a salt bin that needs
refilling, contact your Conservative Team who will notify the
Council.
